Orange City Area Health System CEO Marty Guthmiller Announces Retirement After 32 Years of Leadership

Retirement effective August 1, 2026, following decades of major organizational growth and innovation

Orange City, IA — Orange City Area Health System (OCAHS) announced today that CEO Marty Guthmiller will retire on August 1, 2026, concluding more than three decades of transformative leadership. During his tenure, Guthmiller helped shape OCAHS into a regional leader in healthcare through significant service expansion, facility development, and a culture built on respect and the commitment to “Do Right.”

Since joining OCAHS in 1994, Marty has helped guide the organization through significant growth, including the development of a new health campus, Mill Creek Family Practice in Paullina, Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community, Prairie Ridge Care Center, and the Kanaal Huis 55+ living community. Under his leadership, OCAHS has expanded services, grown its team, and strengthened trust and engagement throughout the region.

Guthmiller says he is most proud of the culture that defines OCAHS – one built on treating others with respect and acting as decent human beings. Citing strong leadership, a staff dedicated to its Core Values, and a shared vision with the Board of Trustees, Guthmiller is confident that legacy will continue to guide the OCAHS team for years to come.

“Stepping away from this position will be bittersweet,” Guthmiller said. “Serving Orange City Area Health System, its employees and volunteers, and communities throughout Northwest Iowa has been the greatest professional privilege. I am grateful for the trust, support, and partnership my colleagues, the Board, and our patients and residents have shown me.”

A formal search for the next CEO will begin soon, and Guthmiller will remain actively involved to support a smooth transition.
