Missoula Children’s Theatre & OC Arts Council present “Cinderella”!

It's Cinderella! Missoula Children's Theatre and the Orange City Arts Council present Cinderella, featuring 41 local students and two Missoula Children's Theatre professionals. Auditions and rehearsals have been happening this week. The performances will be Fri., July 20 and Sat., July 21 at NWC's DeWitt Theatre. ORANGE CITY – Ah, Cinderella… the perfect fairy tale. It’s complete with cute little mice, helpful pumpkins, plenty of bad guys and a happily ever after. Thanks to the Orange City Arts Council, the Missoula Children’s Theatre version of Cinderella is coming to Orange City this week.

 

The performance is scheduled for Friday, July 20 at 7:30pm and Saturday, July 21 at 2:00pm at Northwestern College’s DeWitt Theatre. Forty-one local students are acting and singing in the show, along with Karen Killion of Missoula Children’s Theatre.

 

Killion, along with Adam Ferguson of MCT, conducted auditions Monday morning, July 16, and are rehearsing this week with the cast.

 

Rachel Korver is playing Cinderella; Chloe Krommendyk, Raggedy Annie the Fairy Godmother; Regan Rowenhorst, Rags the Prince; and Karen Killion of MCT, Patches. The evil stepmother will be Riley Rowenhorst; and the stepsisters, Lovely and Beauty, are Haley Smit and Juliana Tien.

 

Rachel Durham is assistant director; Adam Ferguson of MCT, director; and Kate Noteboom of Alton, pianist.

 

The town criers are Parker Van Kley and Sera Burg, and the king is Isaac Krommendyk. Cleo the Cat will be played by Tori Van Ravenswaay, and Fido the Dog, Brody Ohm.

 

Kylie Kurtz, Logan Huizenga and Kaitlyn Bruinsma are the pumpkins. Mice are Carie Winn, Maren Beaty, Raeleigh Raines, Annika Smith, Ashley Huizenga, McKenzie Kurtz, Faythe Groeneweg and Jenna Smit.

 

Lords and ladies will be played by Kaitlyn Drilling, Lindsay Kuiper, Coby Poppema, Maggie Winn, Jadeyn Veltkamp, Raegan Krommendyk, Stephanie Davis and McKinley Williams.

 

The beggars are Jenna Hayungs, Blake Johnson, Noah Krommendyk, Tessa Burg, Emily Vogel, Sydney Krommendyk, Lexy Krogman, Aarika Van Gelder, Marissa Beaty and Charity Sholly.

 

Students are from Orange City, Granville, Le Mars, and Franklin, TN.

 

The Missoula Children’s Theatre director/actors have been involved with children’s theatre for many years, Ferguson with Missoula Children’s Theatre in his hometown of Martinsville, VA. A graduate of the University of Richmond, he has performed, directed and choreographed a variety of shows, including Oklahoma, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, High School Musical and Festival of the Lion King: A Revue.

 

Killion, from Northport, AL and a musical theatre major at the University of Mobile, played the narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and has performed in The Music Man, Phantom of the Opera and High School Musical.

 

Admission to Cinderella is $6 for adults, $3 for K-12 students and $18 for families. All tickets are general admission. No advance tickets will be sold.

BE PART OF “CINDERELLA”!

ORANGE CITY – Cinderella!

 

The Missoula Children’s Theatre is coming to Orange City again this summer!  Come audition for the show Cinderella!  Up to 50 local children will be selected to perform with two actors from the Missoula Children’s Theatre, Adam Ferguson and Karen Killion.

 

Auditions will be held Monday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at Northwestern College’s DeWitt Theatre.  Any students entering grades 1-12 may audition and all participants must stay for the entire audition session.  All children that are cast in the show must be available to attend rehearsals Monday through Friday, July 16-20 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The fee for each child participating in Cinderella is $15.

 

The show will be performed on Friday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 21 at 2 p.m. at Northwestern College’s DeWitt Theatre. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children and $18 for families.

In addition, Ferguson and Killion, from Martinsville, VA and Northport, AL, respectively, will be running several free drama workshops. For children entering grades 1-2, there will a Drama Quest workshop on Tuesday, July 17, using role-playing to encourage self-esteem, communication skills and group dynamics. A workshop entitled What If?, encouraging creativity through imagination, will be held on Wednesday, July 18 for kids grades 3-5.  For youth entering grades 6-12, a mime workshop will be offered on Thursday, July 19.  All workshops will be held at Northwestern College’s DeWitt Theatre from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre is coming to town again! Sign up to audition for Cinderella!

 

Auditions: Monday, July 16 – 10 a.m. to noon. Northwestern College DeWitt Theatre

Interested students, entering grades 1-12, may audition. Audition does NOT require a prepared song or reading, but students must attend entire audition. All children who audition MUST be available for rehearsal Monday through Friday, July 16-20, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and have Friday evening and Saturday afternoon free for the performances.

There are spots for 50 students. We’re very sorry, but there is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play.

 

Rehearsals: Monday, July 16 through Friday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Students must attend when their part is scheduled. Some students will attend morning and afternoon rehearsals, and will need to bring a sack lunch.

 

Performances: Friday, July 20, 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 21, 2 p.m. at Northwestern College’s DeWitt Theatre. Admission will be: Adults $6; K-12 students $3; Family $18.

 

Workshops: Free, Northwestern’s DeWitt Theatre.
