ORANGE CITY – A classic story comes to life on stage.
On Wednesday, August 15 at 7 p.m. The SchoolHouse Company presents George MacDonald’s classic tale, The Princess and the Goblin, otherwise known as Irene & Curdie, in Windmill Park, Orange City. The show is part of the Onstage Orange City series.
The cast features local talent, including Hannah Norton, Virginia Davis, Jenna Beeson, Trevor McMahan, Zach Wright, Brendan Foughty, Drew Lemke, Amanda Vander Stelt, Jessica Giannantonio, Schuyler Pals, and Lois Estell. As narrator, Estell says, “It’s a family-friendly show that has adventure and humor for all ages!”
The play, by Matt Buchanan, is based on MacDonald’s novel about a young princess, Irene, who is threatened by a goblin. Suddenly, she is thrown into an evil world of goblins who are bent on destroying her father’s castle. With the help of a boy named Curdie and a magical great-great grandmother, Irene must warn the castle before the gathering storm. But will anyone believe her? It’s a tale of fantasy, adventure and friendship.
Before the show begins, be sure to grab a slice of pizza! Pizza Ranch will be selling slices of bronco, round-up, pepperoni, and cheese pizza beginning at 6:30 p.m. In addition, Orange City Recreation will be sponsoring a film, Dolphin Tale, at dusk.
