Watercolor Batik Workshop
Create translucent watercolor on textured Japanese Paper
Artist/Instructor Judy Thompson
(for high school and adults)
Saturday, June 6: 9am to 2pm
Northwestern College Korver Art Center, Room 103
Batik is a century old process of decorating cloth using wax and dye. Using a similar process, you will create beautiful translucent watercolor paintings on textured Japanese paper. Judy will demonstrate and instruct each step of this unique and fascinating process. Come join us for a fun, hands-on workshop. Adult learners of all levels are welcome.
Class members will complete a tulip painting similar to the one below. Each student will use the same template, but all of the paintings will be unique.
The day will include a break for lunch.
Judy Thompson’s artwork has received regional and national awards and has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the Midwest. She has been selected twice as an Artist-in-Residence with the National Park System (Nebraska and South Dakota), and is an approved teaching artist for the Nebraska Arts Council.
