Applications are now being accepted for Accelerate Siouxland, a regional leadership development program offered by Northwestern College’s Center for Innovation and Leadership.
The program seeks to familiarize participants with Siouxland’s resources to spark new connections and ideas that enhance the well-being of area residents and their communities. Members engage award-winning materials such as Franklin Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and “6 Critical Practices for Leading a Team”; network with northwest Iowa organizational leaders; and complete a practical project designed to benefit the region.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to further themselves or their organization,” says Josh Van Es, program coordinator for Accelerate Siouxland. “The program will not only help you identify your personal skills and development, but it will also help you discover your potential as a leader.”
“Accelerate Siouxland helped me realize how important it is to connect with other organizations within my community,” says Jessi De Vries, 2021–22 cohort graduate and human resources business partner at SEKISUI Aerospace in Orange City. “It gave me more tools for my professional toolbox, which in turn has helped my confidence level.”
Accelerate Siouxland will meet on the second Thursday of each month from September through April in various locations throughout Siouxland. Topics for discussion will include government, community development, business/industry, health care, education, agriculture, nonprofits, and faith/values.
Cost of the program, all materials and a micro-credential to showcase participants’ personal development is $925. Registration for the 2022–23 cohort is open until Aug. 8 at nwciowa.edu/accelerate.
