The Northwestern College Symphonic Band will embark on its spring tour March 26–29, performing in communities across Iowa. For performance times and details, visit nwciowa.edu/2026-band-tour.
The ensemble will present concerts at high schools, colleges, senior living facilities and churches, and will also participate in a Palm Sunday worship service. Through a mix of full band performances and smaller chamber ensembles, students will share music designed to bring encouragement, reflection and joy to audiences.
The band’s touring repertoire features works representing a range of styles and traditions. Selections include “Pageant” by Vincent Persichetti, “The Trombone King” by Karl King and “Song of Solace” by Ryan Nowlin, as well as familiar hymn settings like William Himes’ arrangement of “Amazing Grace.” The program also includes Brooke Pierson’s “Concertino for Clarinet and Wind Ensemble,” featuring Meredith Sundberg, recipient of Northwestern’s Ritsema Music Scholarship.
The Symphonic Band is directed by Dr. Angela Carlson, associate professor of music at Northwestern. The ensemble has toured extensively throughout the United States and abroad.
