Six projects produced by Northwestern College’s marketing and communications office have won awards in the 2019 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District Six awards competition.
Northwestern’s “Stand Out” branding campaign won the gold award for institution-wide branding. Dordt University received the silver award in that category, with Benedictine College garnering the bronze. Tamara Fynaardt, associate director of marketing and communications, led the team that developed Northwestern’s brand promise and coordinated the development of creative materials that included a video developed by Lem Maurer, Northwestern’s multimedia producer, and publications designed by Roy Trevino of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Greg Elliott of Orange City.
Northwestern’s “win-win” campaign won the gold award for advertising. Silver and bronze awards went to St. Louis University and the Air Force Academy, respectively. Northwestern’s campaign included videos produced by Maurer; postcards and ads designed by Trevino; and a website created by Dan Robinson, Northwestern’s associate director of computing services.
A gold was also awarded to Northwestern for its student recruitment publications package. The University of Missouri-St. Louis won the silver in that category, and Missouri State University won the bronze. Northwestern’s publications included a viewbook and postcard designed by Trevino and a college fair brochure designed by Elliott.
The viewbook also received a silver award in its individual category. Colorado College won the gold award for its viewbook. The University of Kansas also received a silver award, and St. Louis University won a bronze award.
Northwestern earned a silver award in the recruitment short video category for the Raider Stand Out video developed by Maurer. Other winners included Kansas State University with a gold and silver, and Missouri-St. Louis with a bronze.
A website highlighting Northwestern’s DeWitt Family Science Center garnered a bronze award. The site was created by Robinson and Anita Cirulis, associate director of marketing and communications. The gold award was won by the Air Force Academy, with a silver award going to the University of Kansas and two bronze awards to the Missouri University of Science & Technology.
Council for Advancement and Support of Education is an association for professionals who work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and allied areas at educational institutions. District Six includes colleges, universities and independent schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
