Nearly 40 Northwestern College students will spend a portion of their summer as short-term missionaries through the college’s Summer of Service (SOS) program. They will spend two to 10 weeks volunteering with mission partners in Alaska, Brazil, Ghana, Ireland, Italy, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tanzania, Thailand and Zambia.
Students will work alongside long-term missionaries to provide medical care at an outreach clinic and in remote villages, assist with a sports camp, lead Bible studies and worship services, teach English, volunteer at a homeless drop-in center, and share the gospel with people from Muslim backgrounds. They’ll assist organizations including Echo Ranch Bible Camp, Amazon Outreach, Pioneers, Dublin Christian Mission, the Antioch Partners, GenSend, Living Stone Prison Church, Santisuk, Poetice and Siouxland Tanzania Educational Medical Ministries.
Since 1981, Northwestern’s SOS program has encouraged and prepared students to be effective Christian servants around the world. Team members raise their own funds through the support of family, friends and their churches. To make a donation, visit nwciowa.edu/give2sos.
