Orange City Chamber Christmas Buck program to provide $50,000 in local shopping rebates

The Orange City Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with OC Community Betterment Board, Diamond Vogel, Orange City Area Health System, American State Bank, Iowa State Bank, NWREC, Van Engelenhoven Agency, Premier Communications, Northwestern Bank, State Farm-Matt Weg, launched a revised Christmas Bonus Buck program for local spending rebates for the 2020 Christmas shopping season.

This program has over $50,000 in local shopping rebates available and will generate $500,000 in spending at participating small retailers and restaurants during this Christmas season.

The change from the traditional Christmas Bonus Buck program was made due the overwhelming response and support for our small businesses from the community during our COVID-19 Rebate Buck program in early 2020.

“Our Covid-19 Rebate Buck program made such a huge impact locally on retail sales that our small business owners asked us to do something similar during the traditional Christmas shopping season. We are encouraging everyone to Look Local First this holiday season as you make purchases, think of your local business owners, support them with your business and reach out to ask if they can get that special item for you.” states Mike Hofman, Executive Director of the Orange City Chamber of Commerce. Specific details of the program can be found at orangecityiowa.com/details/bonus-bucks-christmas/.

“The goal of the program is to encourage our community to support its small retailers and restaurants during this difficult time.” continues Hofman, “Spending $1 at a local small business generates 3 times the economic impact, locally owned businesses build strong communities by sustaining vibrant town centers, linking neighbors in a web of economic and social relationships, and contributing to local causes, and entrepreneurship fuels America’s economic innovation and prosperity, and serves as a key means for families to move out of low-wage jobs and into the middle class.”

How it works: Starting December 1, 2020, community members are encouraged to spend money at participating retailers or restaurants and save their receipts. Receipts should be saved from the transactions, and can then be emailed to rebatebucks@gmail.com or brought to the Orange City Chamber office to receive a rebate. Get $10 in “Christmas Bucks” for every qualifying $100 spent. Christmas bucks can then be spent at participating local retailers and restaurants.
