Orange City, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Education has announced nine teachers as the first-ever Regional Teachers of the Year. And one of them is a teacher from our area.
Beth Oolman, a middle school language arts teacher at MOC-Floyd Valley, has been named Northwest Regional Teacher of the Year.
Oolman has taught at MOC-Floyd Valley for her entire career., and has held positions teaching 7th grade English, 8th grade English, 8th grade American History, and Senior Basic Communications. She has also served as an assistant high school volleyball coach and as a high school and middle school cheer coach. She also serves as the 6-12 English Language Arts Curriculum Specialist for the District.
Oolman, and the eight other Regional Teacher of the Year winners will now serve as finalists for the 2025 Iowa Teacher of the Year award, which will be announced later this year. Regional winners were nominated by educators, students, families, and fellow Iowans.
