In an effort to grow county trail systems, the Sioux County Trails Council came together in 2013. The group is made up of representatives from each town in Sioux County. Their goal was to provide safe connections for people to get to the different communities by biking, walking, and running.
Through their work, they were able to discover certain areas where there are no good connections, such as between Orange City and Sioux Center. A trail from Sioux Center to Sandy Hollow already exists, so it seemed logical to connect from there to Orange City. The new trails system will be completed in three phases.
With a $2,500 grant from Orange City Area Health System, they plan to begin phase one which consists of engineering and surveying the proposed route. You can read more about the project on their Facebook page.
