Northwestern College to present student dance concert

Northwestern College students will present their annual dance concert, RUSH, in the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center during six performances in March. Shows are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 24 and 25, at 7 and 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, March 26, at 4 and 7 p.m.

This year’s concert will include dances in diverse styles, including hip hop, K-pop, lyrical, tap, funk, musical theatre and modern/ballet. All dances are choreographed and directed by students, and all students are welcome to participate in RUSH, even those with no prior dance experience.

There are 48 Northwestern students participating in RUSH this year, including 12 in the college’s NEXT program for students with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Local youth enrolled in Robin’s School of Dance will also be part of the performances.

Drew Schmidt, associate professor of theatre at NWC, is serving as the producer for RUSH, assisted by Madison Follett, an adjunct instructor at the college.

Tickets for RUSH are $1 and may be ordered through Northwestern’s online box office at nwciowa.edu/tickets. A small credit card processing fee will be added to the ticket cost. All proceeds, minus the fee, go toward next year’s production of RUSH. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, March 14.
