Northwestern College will award degrees to 369 students during its annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14. Master of Education degrees will be presented to 148 students; another 194 will receive Bachelor of Arts degrees; and 27, Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees.
An additional six students will receive certificates of completion as graduates of the Northwestern NEXT program, a two-year campus life and learning experience for 18- to 22-year-olds with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Commencement will begin at 10 a.m. in the Rowenhorst Student Center. Julie Haverly, a 2012 graduate of Northwestern College, will give the commencement address. The baccalaureate service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, in Christ Chapel. Mark DeYounge, dean of Christian formation, will deliver the homily.
Haverly was recently appointed director of the Executive Program Management Office for the Renewable Energy Group Inc., where she is leading the REG/Chevron pre-planning and post-merger integration on behalf of REG and reporting directly to the CEO. Her role centers on transforming vision into reality. She works across the company to facilitate integrations, design organizational structures, and manage cross-functional expansion projects. She previously held roles in marketing, strategy, software product development and strategic project management.
Haverly completed a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Iowa, served on the Metro Women Connect steering committee for Iowa Women Lead Change, and has held several volunteer leadership roles at Christ Community Church in Ames, Iowa. She also currently serves on the boards for Northwestern’s Center for Innovation and Leadership and for United Way of Story County.
