The Smithfield Foods Orange City facility has been named the 2019 Green Plant of the Year by Food Processing Magazine. The plant produces pet food and treats and in recent years has been on the forefront of sustainability manufacturing. Due to its efforts, the facility has decreased energy usage by 12 percent, lowered water usage by 31 percent, decreased greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent, all while increasing production by 22 percent.
