Industry Seeks to Attract Workers

Diamond Vogel, which began in 1926 with Andrew Vogel making paint in the small facility in Orange City, expanded from those beginnings to a major employer in the area.

With Sioux County’s unemployment rate at just a shade more than 2% and expansion plans underway, the company is busy finding workers to fill the company’s needs.

Van Der Werff, vice president of human resources, said the company is busy recruiting, offering “stability in uncertain times” and “sustaining and expanding our culture to take us another 95 years into the future.”

The company offers steady hours, free weekends, and free evenings. That allows an employee to have a life balance and allows for time with family and friends. Their strategy centers around finding the right fit for the culture and value system of the company.

They promote joy at work through ice-cream socials, company picnics, drawings, and even company-wide wage increases.  At any given time there are 6-24 open positions across all company locations. To learn more about Diamond Vogel or to see open positions visit them online.
