On Tuesday, October 23, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new apartment and townhouse project on the south edge of Orange City. The new development will provide more housing options in Orange City and aims to attract workers to the area to fulfill the workforce demand of local industry. Expanded housing options have been a focus of community leaders in Orange City for many years.
Eagle Construction of Sioux Falls South Dakota is the general contractor for the project, and the projected completion date is set for August 2019.
“We have been looking into a location in Orange City for quite some time and we are very excited to join the Orange City community,” shared Steve Boote, Eagle Construction President.
Daryl Beltman, President of the Orange City Development Corporation added, “The Orange City Development Corporation is excited to partner with Eagle Construction to provide additional housing options for our community. We appreciate their significant investment in Orange City.”
Hillcrest Apartments LLC. will build a three-story, 46-unit apartment building consisting of one and two bedroom apartments that will include a community room and elevator. There will also be up to four townhomes (eight total units) that will have two or three bedrooms with garages. This will represent a nearly $5.2 million dollar capital investment in Orange City.
Boote added, “We are very pleased with how the project came together and hope we can help to address a portion of the housing needs in Orange City. The ability to work with forward-thinking community leaders that have a created an atmosphere to make development a priority has made this project a reality”
The new development will be located in the Puddle Jumper #9 housing addition on the south side of Orange City.
