Northwestern College chamber ensembles will present a concert on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The concert, which will include a variety of music performed by three string ensembles and a brass quintet, is free and open to the public.
The brass quintet will perform six selections under the direction of Dr. Angela Holt, director of instrumental studies and music education. Among the pieces are Oliver Holden’s “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name” as arranged by Paul Edwards; “Scherzo” by John Cheetham; and “Beale Street Blues,” written by W.C. Handy and arranged by Jack Gale.
Under the direction of Dr. Juyeon Kang, professor of music, a string duo, trio and quintet will perform pieces from three works. The duo will perform a movement from “Duo in C Major, Op. 18 No. 1” by Carl Stamitz. A selection from Antonin Dvorak’s “Terzetto in C Major, Op. 74 for Two Violins and Viola” will be performed by the trio, and the quintet will perform a movement from “Potpourri No. 2 in B-Flat Major, Op. 22, ‘On the Themes of Mozart’” by Louis Spohr.
