Northwestern to host Day of Giving on April 11

Northwestern College will hold its second annual Day of Giving on Thursday, April 11. Titled AllNDay, the event is designed to encourage alumni and friends of the college to be “all in” with their support of Northwestern. The goal is for 650 people to give to the Northwestern Fund by the day’s end. The event will include six gift challenges for donors.

AllNDay will begin with a morning challenge from 9 to 11 CDT, as Carl and Lori Wynja will donate $2,500 if 65 gifts are received in the two hours. Donors who give $25 or more during this challenge will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to the Northwestern bookstore.

An anonymous trustee has pledged $12,500 if 40 or more current and former Northwestern board members give during AllNDay. Brad and Dr. Carilyn Van Kalsbeek, whose son and daughter are students at Northwestern, will give $3,000 if 100 or more Northwestern parents, grandparents and other family members make an AllNDay gift.

Members of the college’s National Alumni Board have pledged a total of $22,000 if 300 or more Northwestern alumni participate in AllNDay. Alumni who give $100 or more in this challenge will be entered into a drawing to have dinner with Northwestern College President Greg Christy.

Michael Greller, a 2000 Northwestern College graduate and the caddie for PGA golfer Jordan Spieth, will donate $5,000 if 100 gifts are received over the lunch hour, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CDT. Donors who give gifts of $100 or more during this challenge will be entered into a drawing for a golf flag from the 2018 Ryder Cup. The flag is signed by the Team USA players, which included Spieth, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler, among others.

Northwestern faculty and staff will also be encouraged to contribute through a challenge by Dr. Earl and Karen Woudstra. The Woudstras will give $2,000 if 50 gifts are given through the challenge.

Additionally, AllNDay participants will have the opportunity to vote for a Northwestern department or program when they donate, and the top vote-getter will receive $500. If 650 gifts are given by 5 p.m. on April 11, President Christy will be dunked in a dunk tank.

AllNDay gifts may be made beginning April 8 through the Day of Giving website, allnday.nwciowa.edu.
