Northwestern to host Rend Collective concert Oct. 6

Rend Collective, a popular worship band hailing from Northern Ireland, will bring it’s “Campfire: The 10th Anniversary Tour” to Northwestern College on Friday, Oct. 6, as part of Raider Nation Celebration, the college’s Homecoming and Family Weekend. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

General admission tickets are $26 and can be purchased at echoconcerts.com. A block of $20 tickets will be available for Northwestern students and employees in the Ramaker Center student life office. Concert-goers can purchase early-entry tickets for $40. A $75 deluxe ticket includes first entry into the chapel and a post-concert photo with the band. Ticket prices will increase the day of the show.

Since the band formed in 2002 out of the “Rend” young adults ministry at a church in Bangor, Northern Ireland, Rend Collective has released multiple albums featuring an upbeat folk style of worship music. The group is known for such hits as “Build Your Kingdom Here,” “My Lighthouse,” “You Will Never Run,” “I Choose to Worship,” “Your Name is Power” and “Rescuer (Good News).” Its current single, “Hallelujah Anyway,” is part of the “Whosoever” album the band released in 2022.

Rend Collective had its “Good News” album nominated for the 2018 GMA Dove Award for Worship Album of the Year. “Counting Every Blessing” was a Dove Award Song of the Year nominee in 2019.

This fall’s tour seeks to commemorate the live album Rend Collective recorded around a campfire on a chilly Northern Irish beach with a few friends in 2013. They describe the concert as “all the cozy campfire feelings and folksy nostalgia of that era, plus the new classics we’ve written since then … but presented in a totally new way.”
