Representatives from GE Healthcare joined Orange City Area Health System (OCAHS) Radiology staff for a ribbon cutting of the hospital’s new SIGNA™ Voyager AIR™ IQ Edition MRI system on August 3 in the health system’s Imaging Center. OCAHS is the first hospital/health system in Northwest Iowa to implement this latest technology in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
The new MRI features a larger bore (opening the patient lies in) to comfortably accommodate more of the region’s patient population. AIR™ Coil Technology – a light weight blanket-like coil used for most imaging – enhances patient comfort as well as provides extra room, as the soft, thin, coil better conforms to the patient’s body. The SIGNA™ Voyager MRI also offers faster “scan times” thanks to an innovative technology called AIR Recon DL™. This Deep Learning technique also produces higher resolution “sharper” images by employing artificial intelligence.
“We are so fortunate at Orange City Area Health System to have a strong commitment to bring the best imaging technology to our community, most recently with the installation of our new CT and MRI machines,” stated Dr. Jameson Guthmiller, OCAHS Radiologist. “This has the obvious benefit of improved imaging quality which I have already seen, but also faster scan times and a better patient experience.”
The Imaging/Radiology Center at Orange City Area Health System also includes a new GE Revolution™ CT scanner that offers cardiac calcium scoring and lung cancer screening, next-level ultrasound systems, and 3D mammography, along with digital X-ray and DEXA bone scanning systems.
