Northwestern College announces property acquisition

Northwestern College has officially acquired the property of Mulder Auto Tire and Lube, as well as the Subway building, at the corner of Highway 10 and K-64 in Orange City. The buildings are adjacent to the Korver Visual Arts Center and across from DeWitt Theatre Arts Center, providing a highly visible and integrated setting for future campus expansion.

Northwestern’s Te Paske Gallery features exhibit by University of Iowa students

Northwestern College’s Te Paske Gallery will host “Personal Mythologies,” a collection of ceramic works created by current Master of Fine Arts students in the University of Iowa’s ceramics program. The exhibit will be on display Nov. 10 through Dec. 12, with a public reception scheduled for Friday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m.

Northwestern College ensembles to perform

The Northwestern College Symphonic Band will honor various heroes at a concert on Friday, Nov. 7, and the Heritage Singers and Jazz Band will perform Friday, Nov. 14. Three chamber ensembles will perform Friday, Dec. 12. All events will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel and are free and open to the public.

Northwestern College theatre to present Twelfth Night

Northwestern College’s theatre department will present “Twelfth Night” Nov. 13, 15, and 20–22 in the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center’s England Proscenium Theatre. The show will begin at 7:30 each of those evenings; there will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Nov. 15.

Northwestern College physician assistant graduates record 100 percent exam pass rate

Northwestern College’s 2025 physician assistant graduates have recorded a 100% first-time pass rate on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. All 29 students who graduated on Aug. 9 passed the national boards on their first attempt. Northwestern’s pass rate has surpassed the national average for three years in a row.

Northwestern College’s North Suites renamed to honor Heemstras

Northwestern College’s North Suites has been renamed the Jacob and Hannah Heemstra Suites in recognition of the college’s first president and his wife. The name change was announced at a ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 2, as part of the board of trustees meeting.

Den Hartog Athletic Complex Dedication Ceremony Set for October 3

Northwestern College is set to host the dedication of the Den Hartog Athletic Complex on Friday, October 3, at 4:00 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the new facility located on the southeast side of the Bultman Center and is free and open to the public. The Den Hartog Athletic Complex is named in honor of John and Ann Den Hartog, whose significant contributions made the project possible.

Northwestern College to present “Dragons Love Tacos” children’s play

Northwestern College’s theatre department will present the children’s play, “Dragons Love Tacos,” Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3 and 4. Both performances—at 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday—will take place in the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center’s Allen Black Box Theatre.

Northwestern music department presents fall showcase

As part of Raider Nation Celebration, the Northwestern College music department will present a fall music showcase on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The showcase will feature music from the A cappella Choir, Heritage Singers, Women’s Choir, Jazz Band, Orchestra and Symphonic Band, and is free and open to the public.

Northwestern College publishes history book

A new book, “Pursuing the Light: A History of Northwestern, 1882–2024,” tells the story of the institution’s growth from a classical academy and junior college into a college that enrolls about 1,700 undergraduate and graduate students and has more than 16,300 alumni around the world.
