Why Orange City: Austin and Lacey Reitz

How long have you lived in Orange City? Where did you move from?

Three years. Austin from Onawa and Lacey from Jackson, MN.

Why did you move to Orange City?

After I graduated from Northwestern, I had the opportunity to join The Van Engelenhoven Agency and wanted to stay as close as possible while Lacey was finishing up college. Lacey has since joined the Northwestern volleyball coaching staff and we have found Orange City is a great middle ground between both our family and friends.

How would you describe your lifestyle in Orange City (work, school, activities)?

Being a younger couple we have found plenty of things to accommodate an active lifestyle. We are both Northwestern alumni so we enjoy attending as many athletic events as possible throughout the year. We have found ourselves attending both MOC and Unity athletic events as well. I enjoy golfing so I spend plenty of time at Landsmeer during the spring, summer, and fall.

What has surprised you the most about living in Orange City?

It may be considered a small town but it offers everything you need and more. Great education systems, stores, restaurants, and activities. A small town that is always on the move!

What do you most enjoy about the community?

The community itself. Lacey and I have both had the opportunity to meet a ton of people through our jobs. It is great to hear their stories and tell ours.

What makes Orange City unique from other places you’ve lived?

The amount of pride the community takes in this town. The people of this community are always willing to help out and want to make it a great place for everyone to live. When you spend every day here, you take for granted how friendly and clean of a town it really is!

What should others outside of Orange City or those considering a move to Orange City know?

Orange City is a small town full of great people. A town with a long history that continues to grow and get better.
