A celebration of the diversity of people around the world and across the U.S. is scheduled for Friday, April 22, on the campus green of Northwestern College. The annual Beloved Festival of Culture will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and is open to the public as well as to members of the NWC community.
Tickets are $11 for adults and $6 for children ages 4–11. The cost includes a meal featuring food and beverages from Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Malaysia, Japan, India, Afghanistan, Paraguay and Thailand.
In addition to the meal, which will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., the evening will include an international fashion show, live music, and K-pop and hip-hop dances.
“This event is an opportunity to celebrate the many cultures within our beloved community,” says Dr. Kevin McMahan, associate dean for intercultural development. “We’re eager to share the cultural riches of Northwestern.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the festival will take place in the Rowenhorst Student Center.
The Beloved Festival of Culture is a collaboration of Northwestern’s Intercultural Club, La Mosaic multicultural student club, and international development office.
