NWC to Present Session on Helping Youth Follow Christ in their Digital Lives
Northwestern College invites parents, youth pastors and church leaders to “Following Christ in our Digital Lives: The Moral Economies in the Digital Domains of Internet Porn and Grand Theft Auto.” The free session will be presented at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Vogel Community Room of the DeWitt Learning Commons.
The speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Rob Rhea, chaplain and director of student ministries at Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia. He has dedicated his dissertation studies as well as much of his life and ministry to seeing young people walk with fullness and freedom in following Christ in the digital domains of their lives. The session will include a lecture, Q/A and refreshments.
“The prevalence of gaming and pornography calls us to thoughtfully and faithfully reclaim the deep freedom found in living a Christ-centered and Christ-honoring morality,” says Mark DeYounge, Northwestern’s dean of Christian formation. “We are pleased to give area residents the opportunity to hear Dr. Rhea talk about what it looks like for the next generation to pursue faithfulness in their digital lives.”
Rhea will also speak in Northwestern’s chapel service at 11:05 a.m. on Oct. 23 in Christ Chapel and in a special lecture at 10:05 a.m. on Oct. 24 in the Vogel Community Room.
