Northwestern College to Hold Scholarship Auction on Feb. 9

The Northwestern College Alumni Association will host its 36th annual Scholarship Auction on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The silent auction, which includes a “buy it now” option, will begin at 9 a.m. in the gym of the Rowenhorst Student Center, with the audible auction following at 11 a.m.

Orange City’s American Legion chapter will serve a breakfast of Chris Cakes pancakes and scrambled eggs from 7:30 to 11 a.m., also in the Rowenhorst Student Center gym. Breakfast tickets, which can be purchased at the event, are $8 for adults, and children ages 5 and under eat free.

Some of the items up for bid include an Amazon Echo Spot; a five-night vacation at a condo in Keystone, Colo.; a PGA guest experience with Jordan Spieth’s caddie, 2000 Northwestern College graduate Michael Greller; a Roomba robot vacuum; a guided walleye fishing tour on the Missouri River; tickets to a Minnesota Twins game; two Northwestern athletics T-shirt quilts; a DeWalt cordless drill kit; tickets to a dinner and show at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre in Chanhassen, Minn.; and a football autographed by the 1986 Red Raider football team. Several gift cards, household items and golf packages are also available.

Proceeds from the auction support student scholarships at Northwestern. More than 350 people attended last year’s auction, raising $35,000 to benefit 198 Northwestern students this school year.

A printed billing of the items up for bid at this year’s Scholarship Auction will be available beginning Monday, Feb. 4, at the Rowenhorst Student Center desk, Orange City businesses and MJ’s Sinclair in Sioux Center. Items up for bid on Feb. 9 are also available for online browsing at www.nwciowa.edu/auction.
