Northwestern College to host Christian Leadership Conference

Northwestern College will host a conference on The Art of Christian Leadership Tuesday, Oct. 1, from noon to 5 p.m. on the college’s campus. The conference costs $45 to attend; the registration fee includes lunch.

The Art of Christian Leadership conference will explore what it takes for leaders to have faithful influence in a secular age. The event is for leaders in any arena, including business, community organizations, education, ministry and politics.

The conference begins at noon with lunch and a keynote presentation by Dr. Andy Root, a professor at Luther Seminary in Minnesota and a leading thinker on Christian influence in a secular age. Root will explore a historical perspective on the separation of sacred and secular as well as the increasing convergence (and confusion) of sacred and secular in today’s culture. Root will offer a way forward for Christian leaders who seek to be a faithful influence in both sacred and secular contexts.

The keynote will be followed by three workshop sessions during which attendees can choose among topics such as a Christian posture on power; cross-cultural bridge-building; cultural and emotional intelligence; innovative and missional leadership; and vulnerability, grit and vision in leadership.

The Art of Christian Leadership conference is being hosted by Northwestern’s campus ministry division. For more information and to register, visit nwciowa.edu/ChristianLeadership.
