ORANGE CITY – They play from the bottom line – the bass clef. They’re a bass – cello duo from Seattle. They’re performing in Orange City April 9 and 10.
“Elegant. Their simple, rich instrumentation gives them the freedom to explore the whole musical spectrum,” said the Seattle Weekly.
“Most intriguing must see!” That’s the word about Bottom Line Duo from Seattle’s biggest arts festival, Bumbershoot.
And they add humor. “Their program was marvelously varied and wide-ranging, but throughout there was a sense of fun; of telepathic rapport born of abiding intimacy with a jazz-like playfulness and creativity,” said Jack Frymer of the Bellingham Music Club.
Bottom Line Duo is Traci and Spencer Hoveskeland. They’ll be here in April thanks to the Orange City Arts Council, with support from Frank Vogel and the Northwestern College Music Department. The duo will do assemblies and workshops at Orange City Christian School and MOC-Floyd Valley High, plus a workshop at Unity Christian High. Orchestra students from OCCS and Unity will join the Hoveskelands in a couple of pieces at the public concert Tuesday, April 9.
The concert will begin at 7:00pm at Northwestern College’s Christ Chapel. Advance tickets, at $8 for adults and $5 for students, will go on sale in late March. At the door, tickets will be $10 and $7.
