ORANGE CITY – ABBA on Broadway, Mamma Mia! and Grease!
Music classics featuring a wide variety of songs by ABBA, including Mamma Mia!, plus music from Grease!, will be performed by the Orange City Area Community Band on Wednesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at Windmill Park, Orange City.
As part of the Onstage Orange City series, the community band concert offers a wide variety of music appealing to a crowd of all ages. This concert will bring you back to the summer nights of the seventies, and will also feature a number of marches from Henry Fillmore and Sousa.
The community band is made up of outstanding local musicians, and is directed by Carla Van Beek, who has served as the director for 15 years. This summer Carla commemorates these past years by selecting music that was performed in 1977 when the Orange City Arts Council began.
She talks about the community band tradition, saying, “Community bands are great reflections of their community. We strive to present enjoyable, entertaining, and musically rewarding concerts to our audiences. I am proud to be part of this tradition. Thanks to all who come out and show their support of the Orange City Area Community Band.”
This event is free of charge thanks to the City of Orange City and the Orange City Arts Council.
Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Concessions will be available. Rain location is the Orange City town hall.
