Northwestern College launches regional leadership development program

Applications are now being accepted for Accelerate Siouxland, a regional leadership development program offered by Northwestern College’s Center for Innovation and Leadership.

“Accelerate Siouxland seeks to familiarize program participants with Siouxland’s vast resources to spark new connections and ideas that enhance the well-being of area residents and their communities,” says Josh Van Es, assistant director of the Center for Innovation and Leadership, who will lead the program. “Participants will become informed citizens of Siouxland and take on a practical project designed to benefit the region.”

Accelerate Siouxland will meet on the second Thursday of each month from September through April in various locations throughout Siouxland with a focus on real-world application through a regional lens. Participants will engage materials such as Franklin Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” “6 Critical Practices for Leading a Team” and “Unconscious Bias.” Along with this award-winning training material, participants will also hear from area leaders about what makes Siouxland special and how to lead change in their communities. Topics will include government, community development, business/industry, health care, education, agriculture, nonprofits, and faith/values.

Van Es says prime candidates for the program are area professionals who are looking to improve their leadership skills.

Cost of the program, all materials and a microcredential to showcase participants’ personal development is $925. Registration for the 2021–22 cohort is open until July 17 at nwciowa.edu/accelerate.
