Several Northwestern College students will spend part of their summer serving around the world through the college’s Summer of Service (SOS) program. This year, 14 students will participate in short-term mission experiences lasting two to 12 weeks in Alaska, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, England, Italy, Tanzania and Zambia.
Working alongside long-term missionaries, students will serve in a variety of ministry settings, including medical outreach, children’s and youth programs, and community-based evangelism and discipleship.
Several students will assist with medical ministries in the Dominican Republic, Tanzania and along the Amazon River in Brazil, helping provide care in clinics and remote villages. Others will focus on relational ministry in England, connecting with children and senior adults through community outreach. Additional placements include serving refugees in Rome, counseling at a Christian camp in Alaska, and participating in a ministry training program in Zambia.
Students will partner with organizations including Students International, One Collective, Amazon Outreach, Siouxland Tanzania Educational Medical Ministries, the Antioch Partners, Echo Ranch Bible Camp and Poetice.
Since 1981, Northwestern’s SOS program has encouraged and prepared students to be effective Christian servants around the world. Team members raise their own funds through the support of family, friends and their churches. To support SOS students, visit nwciowa.edu/give2sos.
